    Experience Split

The story of Split has lasted for 17 centuries. The Roman emperor Diocletian decided to build a palace on that peninsula near the great Roman city of Salona, in which he would spend the last years of his life in peace. In those 1700 years, the Palace developed and became a city, which today attracts with its rich tradition, magnificent history and the beauty of natural and cultural heritage.

Split is unique for its ever-living stone waterfront, Diocletian's Palace, UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bačvice Beach and Picigin and Marjan Forest Park, the most beautiful lookout point on the city, but also a refuge for all recreationists who come to it. The guardian of Split is the centuries-old, imposing fortress Klis, which in history was the seat of Croatian princes and kings Trpimirović. Today is the location of the filming of the film series "Game of Thrones". Nearby Solin, the ancient Salona, in the church on the river Jadro keeps the memory of the coronations of Croatian kings.

Diocletian's Palace is one of the best preserved monuments of Roman architecture in the world. Built as a combination of a luxury villa - a summer house and a Roman military camp (castrum), divided into four parts by two main streets.

Marjan, a hill overlooking Split, with the highest peak of 178 meters, is the most impressive part of the picture of Split. It is also called the Holy Hill, and it hides many monuments of sacral and profane architecture, paired with this green oasis, which evokes a feeling of admiration and awe.
